REALME project’s aim is to bring together leading specialists of Romania (University Politehnica Bucharest) and Iceland (Reykjavik University) to develop potent and truly effective cutting-edge e-learning modules on an entirely digitalized common curriculum exclusively accessible within a Mixed Reality-based content.

An integrated and interdisciplinary platform bringing together the complex fields of Biomaterials, Scaffold Design and Fabrication, Biocompatibility, Tissue Engineering, Multiscale Computational Approaches and Bioinformatics is specifically directed towards bridging the gap between scholarly excellence and pragmatic productivity. To this point, the entire curriculum will be conceived with a significant consideration for the latest in the labor market.

Project Period

May 2022- Nov 2023

Background of our Project
The recent worldwide disruption of conventional education methods caused by the COVID-19 generated crisis has indisputably highlighted the need for modern teaching methodologies that can immerse the students in engaging environments fit for active learning.

Challenges and Solutions
The screen-bound level of engagement during online classes allows a limited channel of interaction that can make students lose focus and interest on the long term. In contrast, immersive Mixed Reality environments enhance the learning experience by diversifying the stimuli and create dynamic sessions that appeal to all audiences.

Objectives
1) Develop immersive e-learning Mixed Reality modules dedicated to Medical Engineering
2) Create an innovative interdisciplinary digital learning curriculum aimed to expand the knowledge of Medical Engineering students
3) Perform pilot testing of the produced content
4) Raise awareness on the new innovative teaching methodologies
5) Strengthening bilateral relationships at Higher Education Institution
